Origin of Birds ntah Apo-Apo
During this time people thought the bird cenderwasih only exist in Papua. But, did you know that birds of this type was also found in Southeast Sulawesi, precisely in Muna? The people there call it by name-apo Ntaapo birds. According to the story, this bird is the embodiment of a boy named La Ane. How La Ane would evolve into birds Ntaapo-Apo? Formerly, in a village in Muna, Sulawesi Tenggara, there lived a widow with a son named La Ane. Her husband died in La Ane was a baby. To meet the necessities of life, the widow cultivate gardens covering an area not much. The garden she planted sweet potatoes and corn to be eaten daily. In addition to the garden, the husband also left a stallion.
Widow was very dear to La Ane. He take care of him with great affection to grow. However, La ane who has a teenager that has never helped his mother worked. From waking to sleep again, it works just playing kazoos with his friends. He had returned home when his stomach is hungry. But, once satisfied, he returned to play kazoos.
The mother began not happy to see her son's behavior is increasingly lazy. He has repeatedly asked her to go into the garden, but La Ane always refused.
"Why work every day. Tired, Mom, "she always said La Ane.
"My son, we want to eat anything that does not work?" Said his mother.
"She just works. I'd rather play a top with my friends than go to work in the garden, "said La ANE by ignored.

"Oh, Mom. You are really angry with me? In fact, I'm so hungry, "complained La Ane.
With feelings of sadness, La Ane went upstairs attic of his house. Above the attic, he sat thinking about his fate.
"I no longer care about me anymore. Better to be a bird just so that I could fly back and forth looking for food alone, "said La Ane.

The mother incessantly call her son. However, the bird still will not come back. He flew to the jungle in search of food. The mother could not do anything, except regret his treatment of his son's only child.
Since that event, a bird who likes to sing "ntaapo-apo" is called bird-apo Ntaapo. Until now, a bird similar to a bird of paradise is still often heard kicauannya of the forests in Muna, Sulawesi Tenggara.
